Groups with banned content
To protect people, certain kinds of content can be banned from Google Groups, like abusive content or spam. But if you have access to the group, you can choose to view the posts anyway.
If you manage a group that has banned content, you can appeal the decision. But before you appeal, make sure to review your content and remove anything that might be offensive like abusive content, spam, or posts that violate the User Content and Conduct policy.
View groups with banned content
- If you come across a group with banned content, you’ll see a warning message.
- If you have access to view the group, click the Continue to the group button. You won’t see the button if you don’t have access to view the group because of the group’s settings.
- If you choose to view a banned group, you can read the posts, but you won’t be able to post anything new.
Banned group appeals process
If you’re the owner of a group with banned content, you can appeal the decision.
- Review your group’s content, and remove any content that might be offensive.
- Update your group’s security settings. When you use settings like message moderation, you can make it harder for group members to post spam or adult content, and make it easier to keep your community healthy and active.
- Open Google Groups > click My Groups > name of the group you want to edit.
- Click the name of your group > Request Review on the group’s home page.
Groups with adult content must include an adult content warning. Without a warning, the group will be permanently banned.
